Overview

Students are encouraged to build the skills and competencies essential for their future academic pursuits and engagement in an increasingly global society. The school fosters individual progress, ensuring that each student reaches their full potential in a well-structured, interactive environment tailored to promote personal development and achievement.

Aims and Objectives

As in all EISP school cycles, the Middle School integrates subject knowledge with personal development to spark students' curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning. Our goal is to provide an educational environment that connects with the International Community while offering a high standard of preparation through diverse learning strategies and modern teaching resources. We provide students with a balanced theoretical and practical framework that enhances their skills, deepens their understanding, and promotes effective study habits, all of which are essential for a smooth transition from Primary to High School.

Curriculum

The Middle School programme is a flexible and versatile combination of international educational principles and the curriculum in use in the Italian State School system, sponsored by the Ministero dell’Istruzione e del Merito (MIUR).

This particular mix of educational approaches allows our teachers to express their professionalism on a wider teaching scale, enabling them to meet students’ discrete needs and personal learning styles.

The language of instruction is English, except for the following subjects: modern foreign languages (MFL), technical drawing, and mathematics; for the latter, there is also the option to attend the course in English.

The linguistic and literary areas of the curriculum have been extended to inspire our students to develop their proficiency within the four basic language areas (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in English and Italian. This educational experience is further augmented through the introduction of a third European language with students selecting from either French, German, or Spanish.

We foster a well-rounded education beyond the classroom, with CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) students leading activities for Years 6 and 7 that inspire creativity, promote physical activity, and encourage community and service.

Clubs

The ISSTA International School Sports Tournament is a bi-annual event that brings together schools from across Italy to compete in a variety of sports. Our students also participate in the Mediterranean Cup , which is an excellent platform for them to interact with their peers from other schools, build new friendships, and learn valuable life skills such as leadership, perseverance, and respect for others.

Sports Tournaments

We are committed to our students' well-being, offering a comprehensive pastoral care system for emotional, social, and academic support. Through collaboration between Heads of Year, School Psychologists, and the PSE Programme, we create a nurturing environment for growth, resilience, and success.

Linguistic trips and Language Certifications

We believe that language learning goes beyond the classroom. To enrich our students' experiences, we organise annual trips to Austria, France, and Spain, where they can practice their skills in real-life contexts, immerse themselves in new cultures, and create lasting memories. Additionally, we offer internationally recognised certifications, including B2 First for Schools, DELF, Goethe-Zertifikat, and DELE, enabling students to showcase their proficiency in English, French, German, and Spanish. These credentials enhance linguistic abilities while supporting academic and professional growth in a globalised world.
