Overview

Class teachers are responsible for delivering lessons in Art, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, and Science and Relationship Education, while specialist subject teachers provide our computing, Italian, Music, and Physical Education lessons. The Primary School plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between Nursery and Secondary School, supporting and guiding them through this important phase of learning and personal growth.

Aims and Objectives

EISP provides a safe, inclusive environment that fosters academic, physical, social, and emotional growth. Starting from nursery, we nurture happy, independent, and resilient learners equipped for future success. While valuing each student’s first language, we guide them to communicate confidently in spoken and written English.

Curriculum

EISP combines the British and Italian curricula. Our school incorporates a variety of teaching strategies, including opportunities for discussion, practical work, and the application of skills. Additionally, a range of extra-curricular activities is available to enhance students' enjoyment and nurture their curiosity in a dynamic environment beyond the traditional classroom setting. The Italian programme follows the ministerial guidelines respected in Italian state schools. Furthermore, EISP can offer international students the opportunity to learn Italian.

Students are regularly assessed throughout the academic year on the main concepts taught. Maths and English are formally assessed at the end of each unit while ongoing daily assessment is used to meet the needs of all students. The different Italian strands are assessed regularly throughout the year.

In key stage two, students are also formally assessed with written challenges in geography, history, and science which encourages the development of methodical/systematic study habits, and ensures that the children build upon prior learning. Key stage one progress is measured by teacher assessment.

At the end of each academic year, Years 1 and 2 complete internal exams in English, Italian, and mathematics. Years 3 and 4. In addition, are required to complete oral interrogations in science, history, and geography in preparation for Year 5 when the students are assessed by an external commission.

Pupil council, choir and sports

We provide various opportunities for our Key Stage 2 students to develop leadership skills. All our representatives are elected by their peers.

Our Year 5 house captains play a vital role in fostering school spirit and are ambassadors for our school. These students lead their respective houses, guiding younger students and promoting the school ethos in all aspects of school life. We have P.E. ambassadors who inspire participation in sports, organize tournaments, and promote sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle.

House Captains

Our Pupil Council members attend regular meetings where they represent the interests of the student body. They ensure that every pupil has a voice in decisions that affect them.

Pastoral care

We have weekly Relationship Education lessons which are designed to help our children understand the basics of healthy, respectful relationships. These lessons focus on friendships, family relationships, emotional well-being, inclusion, cultural awareness, and the foundations of good communication. In addition, all members of staff act as personal champions for the children within our school community, ensuring their personal, social, and emotional needs are being met during each school day.
