A Special Visit from Publisher and Bookseller David Tollin
As part of our extracurricular program designed to enrich our students’ cultural experience, our school had the pleasure of welcoming David Tollin, publisher and bookseller from Pel di Carota Bookshop in Padua—one of Italy's most renowned bookstores dedicated to children's and young adult literature.
During his visit, Mr. Tollin delivered two tailored sessions for different student groups:
Year 9 – Exploring the Dialogue Between Literature and Film
- Year 9 students delved into the dynamic relationship between written stories and cinematic language. Through examples, reflections, and brief analyses, they explored how narratives change when adapted from page to screen, gaining deeper awareness of interpretation, creativity, and the power of storytelling.
Year 6 – Discovering and Enjoying Children's Literature
- With Year 6, Mr. Tollin led an engaging session focused on children's and young adult fiction. He introduced authors, genres, and books designed to spark young readers' curiosity, encouraging students to ask questions, explore new stories, and discover the joy of finding "their" book.
These enriching encounters perfectly reflect our school’s mission: to provide meaningful learning experiences that foster critical thinking and cultural awareness.
